On Tuesday, 36 2nd-8th graders participated in our annual CCS Spelling Bee. Many spellers of all ages made it through multiple rounds and all of the spellers were brave and competent. After 15 rounds, the winning word was TEGULAR spelled by our 2025 CCS Spelling Champion, Lucy Palmer. Annie Palmer came in 2nd and Leslie Mudge came in 3rd. All three spellers will compete in the Vermont State Spelling Bee at St Michael’s College on March 24, 2025.

Thank you to the parent volunteers and school administration members for making this event a success, in particular Naomi Strada, Cindy LaWare, Assistant Principal Beth Slater, Principal Tim O’Leary and PTO President Larson Berkey. Beth Slater was a real champion of the Bee this year.

An ENORMOUS thanks to our esteemed community leaders who officiated the Bee this year. Vermont state Representative Chea Waters Evans served as Pronouncer, Charlotte Library Director Margaret Woodruff and former The Charlotte News editor and Charlotte Library Trustee Janice Heilmann served as judges.

We can’t wait to see your smiling faces on Monday, August 26th! You should have received an email from CCS today. Here are some ways to help your kiddo have a fantastic week.

- Don’t forget to fill out the forms on PowerSchool before Monday. If there are any changes to transportation, you’ll need to contact the school.

- If you are driving your student to school, please have them arrive between 7:45-8a. Doors will close at 8a and your student will be tardy after that time (please note - this is earlier than last year).

- Pick up will be between 2:45-3p. Things may take a little longer the first week or two, so please be kind.

- Grownups set the tone. If you have a positive attitude towards school, there’s a good chance your student will, too!

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. We are looking forward to an awesome school year!
